Gustave Tiffoche (1930-2011)
Born on July 23, 1930, in Saint-Nazaire, Gustave Tiffoche began his career at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyards, where he contributed to the construction and decoration of renowned ocean liners like the "Shalom" and the "France." Transitioning to ceramics in 1961, he established his studio in Guérande, specializing in unique stoneware pieces fired at high temperatures. Throughout his career, Tiffoche's work evolved from functional pottery to monumental sculptures and architectural ceramics, showcased in exhibitions across France and internationally. Mentoring numerous young ceramists and receiving accolades such as the gold medal at the 1969 Stuttgart International Exhibition, Tiffoche's artistic legacy spans decades of innovation and dedication to his craft.
