Gilbert Valentin (1928-2000)
Gilbert Valentin, born in Nancy, was influenced early on by his artistic surroundings. He discovered ceramics in 1946 and, after formal training, settled in Vallauris in 1950, founding the studio "Les Archanges" with his wife, Lilette. There, he collaborated with prominent artists like Picasso and Cocteau. Known for robust, abstract forms with bright, splashed colors, Valentin's work contributed to Vallauris' artistic ceramic revival, blending sculpture, painting, and metalwork into his evolving art.
