André Borderie (1923-1998)
André Borderie, born in Beautiran, France, began his career in telecommunications before turning to art influenced by a Paul Klee drawing. He co-founded an artistic workshop in Bures-sur-Yvette, collaborating with Hungarian artists Paul and Véra Szekely. Their work spanned painting, ceramics, and furniture, characterized by evolving styles from folkloric to abstract and surreal. After separating in 1957, Borderie continued to develop his distinctive style, focusing on ceramics and tapestries characterized by geometric patterns and vibrant colors. He received acclaim for his tapestry work, winning the Grand Prix de la Tapisserie française in 1963 for "Rue de la Paix."
